THE WORLD’S MOST EXCITING NEW RESTAURANTS

FROM FINANCIAL REVIEW:

What is it? | The latest venture from chef-restaurateur couple Walter and Margarita Manzke has added a much-anticipated slice of Parisian Left Bank to LA’s dining scene (and to the duo’s LA stable of République, Petty Cash Taqueria and Sari Sari Store).

The cosy interiors at Bicyclette have an authentic touch, so you feel like you’re stepping into the embrace of a romantic French bistro. For now, the downstairs bistro is humming tunefully, with a grander restaurant above still to open.

The affable Walter Manzke, who learnt from the likes of Alain Ducasse and Ferran Adrià, creates a contemporary farm-to-table offering inspired by the couple’s own tour de France.

What to order | Textbook French bistro dishes (with Californian notes), such as yellow fin tuna steak tartare and beef short rib à la Bourguignonne.

Why go? | The Los Angeles Times lauded Manzke’s flagship République as a “cornerstone of Los Angeles dining”, making Bicyclette one of LA’s most anticipated openings of the year.
